Afinite is not a solution developer, but implements cloud management solutions for portfolio project systems when desired. In this way we can provide end-to-end support for clients in project management tools and techniques which extends to the technologies that enable them.

The cloud solution complements and extends the Afinite's project management consulting service, which is the core of Afinite's business.

You don't have to take advantage of Afinite technology solution in order to be our client. However, we feel that allowing us to also implement your portfolio project management (PPM) system is not just a value-add to our consulting service, but a value-multiplier:

Microsoft provides the dominant suite of business applications for office use today and for the foreseeable future.

• Your organisation can utilise our co-hosted PPM platform, which Afinite manages for its clients. Afinite's technology stack runs Microsoft® SharePoint® with Project Server® on Australian-owned and operated cloud infrastructure.
  Or,
• We help your organisation set up and optimise its own PPM system as a Microsoft® Project Online Premium subscription. Implementation of your own PPM can be managed as its own project.

For optimum up-time, and to leverage open source technology, the co-hosted solution is a hybridised platform that includes Linux (MS SQL) as well as Microsoft servers to support the applications.

There are so many advantages to a hybrid architecture. For example,

Open-source project management tools such as Jira and Confluence can be run side-by-side with Microsoft Project and closely integrated.

Secure, accessible, third-party mobility solutions/apps are already widely available for these components.

Our solutions are poised to take full advantage of imminent technology innovations, such as real-time Monte-Carlo analysis and AI-based project assistants.

One of the key motivations for hosting our own (co-hosted) cloud solution independently, rather than through a Microsoft Project Online Premium subscription, is access to data: Through a Project Online Premium subscription service, customers are constrained to working only with OData made available from the PPM to meet their reporting and integration needs. However, in our experience, the data granularity and integration capabilities obtained through the subscription service are often inadequate: at the end of the day the reporting views obtainable only inform partially.

Afinite's co-hosted solution, as an alternative to the subscription model, enables customer access to all of the platform's source data. This includes out-of-the box performance reporting but, more importantly, allows access to relational data from Project, SharePoint, MS SQL, Active Directory, etc. Direct access allows us to create customised reports to visualise the portfolio KPIs most important to your business and reflecting its unique competitive advantages. Access to data is further leveraged by through value-added platform tools such as Microsoft PowerBI and other third-party data visualisation tools, will increasingly lend itself to advanced data analytic and machine learning techniques.
